Comments:
If at all possible, do not take a class from Professor Robertson. She doesn't know how to teach Spanish. She switches back and forth between Spanish and English as she feels like it, taking away the opportunity for her students to get somewhat immersed for an hour. She does absolutely no work on pronunciation. Her in class exercises are pointless and stupid, and she never gives enough time to finish them. On top of everything, she is disorganized and unclear.

Sra. Robertson is an awsome teacher. She tells you upfront what you need to do and what she expects. The homework load varies from the amount due on each day, but she states what the assigments will be for the whole week in the begining, so it is up to on the HW load. The only time when I have seen there to be a problem in 101, is when someone doesn't know what she is saying and complains that she's not speeking english, but that's the point of the class, to learn spanish, not english.

If you have already taken spanish in high school then you should place well out of any class that is beneath you in the placement exam. But if you want a teacher who is dedicated to your learning the ins and outs of Spanish grammar, then Robertson will do that for you. She gives loads of nearly daily work, but unless you are immersed in having to think in Sanish, you won't. You might be able to pull the conjugations out for an exam and do well without having hurt yourself studying, but you won't be able to speak properly. I found the work load exhausting, but definitely useful. I left her class able to converse in all of the appropriate forms and am eternally grateful.

she is not a good at getting her point across and most students leave class confused about what we just did. i wouldn't NOT recommend taking a class from her unless you have too.

If you've taken spanish in High School, you already know everything that's going to be taught in this class. Its good if you are just fulfilling your language requirement, but bad if you are actually planning on learning something. There is A LOT of busy work and many times I have had to plant errors in my homework so that it can be corrected, because if you turn in something that is well done, she will believe that you are cheating and having someone else do your work for you.

After having taken spanish for 4 years, I found my self learning nothing new in this class. We didn't speak spanish all too often, but at the end of the semester we did an entirely spanish project. If you are looking to really learn learn spanish I would suggest another professor, if you are looking to assure yourself on stuff you already know or finish your language requirement this is a great class to take.
