Comments:
She knows a whole lot about everything, and thinks her students do too. She and Gorman expect their students to devote their entire life to psychology. If you're not going to be a Psych major, then avoid these two Profs for the intro course. They make it WAY harder than it should be for an intro class. If I had any interest in Psych before I took the class, they sucked away any possibility of me pursuing the subject any further.

One of the reasons I switched majors. Nice, smart lady- but INCREDIBLY boring and dry.

I didnt like her at first, very demanding, but the amount I learned through lecture and short assignment made studying for the final really easy. I would reccomend taking her because she is a valuable resource not only for statistics, but for any other class that you need help with. I would reccomend her to anyone!

A lot of reading, ok if you're an upperclassman, but I imagine harder for frosh--the idea is they're weeding people out. Dess was very available and is very smart, huge body of knowledge. Seek out individual conferences!

Nice woman, not a great prof but not horrible either. Lectures were pretty boring (this wasn't the kind of class I was excited to go to) but Dess is really intelligent and knows a lot about what she teaches. She's very available outside of class so if you need help she's there. Bottomline: knows her stuff just not one of my first choices when I'm picking classes.

Comments:
This professor has a disadvantage: she teaches difficult (and dreaded) subjects of research methods and statistics. But if you are headed for graduate school and will need to be strong in these subjects, she's the one to take! No nonsense approach, but very human and will spend unlimited time with you outside class. Open door policy; if she's there, she won't turn you away. Takes a real interest. Smartest of a smart bunch at this school. Her recommendation letter will mean something: she's at the top of her profession and served in Washington DC as senior scientist of the APA. Goes the extra mile for students who show initiative.
